Utah’s Individual Insurance Policy Regulations
- Insurance companies are not required to issue individual healthcare policies to every applicant. Applicants can be refused for medical reasons.
- Insurance companies that offer individual policies must offer you standardized policies so that you can compare prices. Standard policies have three choices of deductible levels. Insurance companies can also make their own packages available to you.
- Insurance companies can exclude pre-existing conditions, or conditions which occurred in the six months prior to issuing your individual policies, permanently under certain conditions.
- Pregnancy can be dealt with as a pre-existing condition.
- Individual insurance policies cannot be canceled just because you have gotten ill.
