New Hampshire’s Individual Insurance Policy Regulations include:
- Insurance companies may have the right to refuse to issue you an individual insurance policy due to the status of your health.
- Newborns, dependent grandchildren, and adopted children are covered under their parents’ policy for 31 days.
- Children with disabilities may be able to continue being covered by their parents’ policy after the children become of age if the children are unable to support themselves.
- Individual insurance policies are required to include coverage on certain items such as bone marrow transplants and diabetes services.
- Insurance companies can exclude pre-existing conditions, or conditions that existed three months prior to the policy being issued, up to nine months. In some cases, companies can exclude pre-existing conditions permanently.

New Hampshire Health Plan is available to New Hampshire residents who have been turned down for health insurance or are being offered a policy that has roughly the same coverage, but has a higher premium. The state of New Hampshire also offers medical coverage to children from qualified low income families.
