Members of Health Net PPOs can use non-network healthcare providers or can choose network healthcare providers for more savings. PPO members do not have to appoint a primary care physician and can visit specialists without a referral. Health Net of California has four PPO plans from which to choose, FirstChoice PPO, SimpleChoice PPO, and ValueChoice/Net Saver. The plans have a range of deductibles and coinsurance rates from which to choose.

Health Net offers a choice of two HSA plans, SimpleChoice HSA and SmartChoice HSA. These HSA plans are PPOs with high deductibles and low premiums. Members pay qualified medical expenses from a special account to which members have contributed pre-tax dollars. This may help members save on their taxes. If the funds in the account are not depleted, they roll over into the next year. Any interest accrued is also tax free. Many people are able to use their HSA accounts as another form of long term savings if they manage their healthcare costs carefully.
HMOs are designed to provide maximum savings to members. Members choose a primary care physician who manages their healthcare needs. The primary care physician is also responsible for referring members to specialists in the network. Health Net offers Californians the choice of two HMO plans, HMO 15 and HMO 40.
Health Net also offers Quick Net, a PPO for those who only need insurance coverage for up to six months. There are three plans from which to choose for short term coverage.
