Golden Rule Insurance

Golden Rule Insurance offers several different individual healthcare plans.  The availability of plans varies according to state, as do benefits.  Golden Rule does not operate in New York.

• Copay Select: offers low copays when using network healthcare.  The program has several choices in deductibles.  The copay portion of this plan covers prescription drugs, usually after a separate deductible has been met, and office visits. Members must pay coinsurance after deductibles have been met for services such as hospitalization, preventative care for adults, and surgery.


• High Deductible Plan 100: offers three choices in deductibles and no coinsurance after deductibles are met.  Coverage includes hospitalization, outpatient surgery, and routine health benefits.

• High Deductible Plan 80: offers three choices in deductibles.  Coinsurance is 20% after deductibles have been met.  After $15,000, members do not pay coinsurance.  Coverage is the same as in the High Deductible Plan 100.


• High Deductible Plan Saver 80: offers six choices in deductibles.  Coinsurance is the same as under High Deductible Plan 80.  Doctor office fees, prescription drugs, and childhood immunizations are not covered under this plan.


• HSA 100: is a high deductible, low premium insurance plan that may have tax advantages.  Qualified medical expenses are paid from a special account in which members have contributed pre-tax dollars.  HSA 100 has a wide variety of deductibles from which to choose.  There are no coinsurance payments required after deductibles have been met.  Benefits include hospitalization, outpatient surgery, emergency room fees, doctor visits, and prescription drugs.


• HSA Saver: is a plan similar to HSA 100 except that this plan has fewer benefits.  Doctor office visits, prescription drugs, adult preventative care, and childhood immunizations are not included in this plan.
