BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has been leading the state in health care coverage since 1945. With over four million policyholders, the carrier has a large presence in Tennessee. But with an estimated count of over 800,000 uninsured residents, it is clear that BCBS Tennessee still has a lot to strive for. With their goals firmly in place, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee offers individuals and families around the state many plans that are both comprehensive and affordable, including:
- Personal Health Coverage: Members can choose a wide range of coverage options with this plan. They can choose a co-pay or a co-insurance option, and deductibles start at $250. Covered are hospitalization and wellness care, as well as prescription coverage and an optional dental plan.
- SimplyBlue: Members have four plan choices with this option. Deductibles range from $2000-$7000 (family deductibles are twice that of individuals). Co-insurance ranges from 80-100% in-network and as low as 60% with out-of-network care. Adult preventive care and well-child care to age six (including vision, hearing and immunizations) is covered.
- SimplyBlue Plus: This plan is similar to the Simply Blue plan, except that office visits require only a $30 copay, and prescriptions drug coverage has a $15 for generics. There is also no maximum coverage amount for preventive care.
- BluePartner: This is a consumer-driven plan that combines a HSA with a high-deductible health plan. Deductibles vary based on individual or family preferences, and to receive care other than preventive treatment, members must meet the deductible and co-insurance requirements. However, the Health Savings account can be used to pay for treatment that would require a deductible, as well as help with vision and dental health costs.
In addition to these plans, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee offer temporary coverage of one to three months, as well as enrollment in BluePerks, a discount program that can help pay for massages, LASIK, weight-loss centers and other health-related programs or treatments.
