Wellmark offers many people who couldn't otherwise afford insurance, the opportunity to enroll in medical coverage. Among the plans that it offers:

• Blue Select: These are PPO plans. As such, members receive greater discounts on care if they use in-network physicians. Deductibles and co-insurance is waived for well-visits, including childhood immunizations. Instead, consumers pay a small co-pay for service. Deductibles range from $500-$5000, and the plans offer optional life insurance, supplemental accident insurance and a vision discount.
• Blue Priority Health Savings Account: This tax-free account can be used to pay medical costs associated with preventive and wellness care, as well as dental and prescription expenses. Combined with a high-deductible health plan, it provides policyholders with comprehensive medical coverage.

In addition to these plans, Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield has a nonprofit foundation, the Wellmark Foundation, which is working toward improving health care and access through South Dakota and Iowa.
